Shorts are trousers that cover the lower body to the thighs. They get their name because they are shorter than trousers. They are mainly divided into underpants and outer pants. Outer pants are divided into men’s or women’s clothing, shorts vary in length, including hot pants, three-point pants, five-point pants and so on.
Outer shorts were originally boys’ clothing. Later, due to the energy crisis in the 1970s, Europe and the United States advocated reducing the use of air conditioners and fans and changing to clothes with less clothes. Nowadays, they have become a popular fashion for women.
In Western history, shorts were only worn by young boys. When children grow up, they will have their first pair of trousers. This makes people understand that shorts are only for young boys. So even in the hot summer, adult men don’t wear shorts in order not to make people feel immature. But since the Second World War, many soldiers have been sent to the tropics, and there have been more adult men wearing shorts. In the 1970s, because of the energy crisis, European and American countries proposed to change clothes with less clothes to reduce the use of air conditioners and fans. Later, it became a women’s fashion.

Today, most young boys already have trousers when they can distinguish between trousers and shorts. Even if they still wear shorts when they reach adulthood, they will not feel strange. But in many countries, wearing shorts is always considered too casual, and it is still unacceptable for employees to wear shorts to work in the office.
